Some face painting idea that you could use for holidays such as during Easter is to draw two large white circles over the child’s mouth.
The white circles can be surrounded with black outline and the rest of the face can be painted with strokes of lines resembling fur.
Add several whiskers on the white circles and top it up with a bunny ear headband for a complete costume. You are now transforming your child into an Easter Bunny. See the picture below.
To create a Jack-O-Lantern look for your children, paint two black triangles around the eyes but leave some space between the eyes and the surrounding skin.
To make the painting realistic, draw a toothy grin around the mouth of the child and cover the rest of the face with orange makeup.
Remember to use a sponge for the makeup for even and smooth foundation. To complete the painting, create vertical ellipses with red stripe to mimic the lines of a pumpkin.
Weather and Sky Face Painting Ideas
To create a rainbow painting on the face of your kids, start with indigo and draw an upside down U across your kids’ cheeks and nose.
Use several colors such as red, orange, blue and so on to create the same upside down U shape for the rainbow. Work through it by drawing upward to avoid smearing. Let the paint dry for about a minute before letting your child goes.
For a night sky look, draw several stars over your child’s face with yellow, white or gold colors. Create a crescent moon on the cheek for realistic look. Use a sponge to paint the rest of the face dark blue.
To create a thunderstorm face painting look, draw a dark gray cloud around the eyes of your kids. Make the clouds look fluffy. But remember to leave some skin bare around the eyes. To create dramatic effect of the thunderstorm, draw a solid thunderbolt with yellow color stretching from the cloud to the chin.
Peace Signs Face Painting Ideas
Use a bright color such as light blue, yellow or orange to draw a thick circle around the edges of the face. Divide the circle into three sections by painting an upside down, three pronged Y inside the circle.
You can use the same color for each of the sections inside the circle. For an attractive look, paint each section with different colors. This will create a solid peace symbol. Draw a few of the same symbol on each cheek.
Yin Yang Face Painting Ideas
Draw a thick stretched out S in the middle of the face with dark color such as black or deep blue. Create two large circles on each side of the face with one of the circles painted white while the other one painted black. You can draw the white circle on the left side of the forehead whereas the black one on the right face.
When the two circles are done, cover the entire right side of the face with white color and use black color for the left side of the face. Remember to use a large brush or sponge to paint the entire face for a smooth effect.
Use Dedicated Face Painting Material
To wash the makeup easily, use paint materials specially made for skin. Avoid using oil based makeup as it’s difficult to wash. Alternatively, you can rub a thin layer of petroleum jelly onto the face before putting on the makeup.
