5 Simple and Easy DIY Projects to Do This Summer

Posted on

Feeling bored or uninspired this summer? Don’t let all that free time and sunshine go to waste! Instead, why not do something productive and creative?

Easy DIY Projects to Do This Summer

Here are some super easy DIY you can do this summer to fill your time and create some cool items.

1. Hand-painted Mugs

You know those pretty mugs that have sayings, initials or colorful drawings on them?

Well, you don’t have to pay someone on Etsy to do them; you can just make your own!

All you have to do is take a permanent marker and a cheap mug, draw your preferred design and then put the mug in the oven.

The enamel will melt and your design will stick for the long haul.

2. Framed Quotes

A very big home design trend on Pinterest is to have framed inspirational quotes around the house.

But at over $20 a piece, creating a gallery wall can be expensive, so why not just DIY it?

You just need to print out a beautifully-written quote off the internet and frame it at home. Quick and easy!

3. Bling Clutch

Looking for a flashy clutch bag for the summer? No need to spend the big bucks; just upcycle one you already own.

Take a simple, black clutch, a glue gun and some colorful beads, studs or anything else you like and apply them on the bag in whatever design you want.

4. Life and Color

Any apartment needs some life injected into it and you can do that very easily with plants.

But flower pots are not the most aesthetically-pleasing things in the world, are they?

To make your cacti or succulents more fun and colorful, try adding bright rocks and/or pebbles inside the terrarium.

5. Recycle and Upcycle

Let’s say you have an old quilted bed cover that you love, but that you can no longer use.

You love the pattern so much – what else can you do with it?

Throw-pillow slip covers! Just cut it up according to size and spice up your couch with some colorful pillows.

Bonus tip: alternatively, you can use the remaining fabric to create small coin-purses, sun glasses cases, etc.
